FAQ

  • How do you evaluate my business?

I can look as deeply or as high level as you want me to. By looking at some key bits of information, like business objectives and overall activity, I can objectively evaluate where opportunities may be hidden or where there may be barriers to your success. The more time I spend with you, and the more information I know about you, the more I’ll be able to help.

  • Do you specialise in certain sectors?

My background is varied. I’ve worked for and with some recognisable household brands, but I’ve also worked with far smaller business, applying my many years of experience. I often find that business run by the original founder which is still privately owned, share some of the most common challenges - most of which are caused by having an outdated or non existent strategy.

  • What type of businesses do you work with?

I work with many different types of businesses across a wide degree of industries. I typically find that businesses that regard themselves as SME’s benefit the most from my services. Those that would say they have separate functions for sales, marketing and product or those that rely on small teams for everything.

  • What information will you need?

To start, I’ll only need the basics - a brief summary from you of your problem and an idea of what you’re trying to achieve, together with any frustrations you’re having! I’ll do a bit of research on you to familiarise myself with your business and your competitive market and then we’ll arrange a call to discuss what I see.

If you want me to go deeper, I’ll need an idea of your current numbers (I can work under NDA if you wish) together with any details covering current activity i.e plans, investment levels, business structure etc. You can provide info on roles and responsibilities without sharing any personal details, to help me to assess your current capabilities and to see if you have the right level of resource in the right places. All of this can be done under NDA.

  • Who do I need to involve?

It’s entirely up to you. To start off it works better as a one to one with the person leading your business, who can provide an overview of the long-term vision. For a deeper dive, I’ll need more info, so perhaps it may require working with your leadership team, department managers or perhaps even individuals within the team so I get the full picture. Keeping numbers to a minimum makes the process much more efficient, and both time and cost effective. We can agree this from the outset.

  • How long will it take?

Depending on the size of your business, a full evaluation can take anywhere between a couple of days to perhaps a week or two. I offer a free hour of my time to help you get started and after that, it’s entirely your call. Prices can be fixed, so you don’t have to worry about costs spiralling.

Full strategy development and planning can take a bit more time, depending on the size of the challenge but because I keep things simple, you could expect to get something off the ground within a couple of weeks.

  • Do you need to visit us?

In short, probably not. And actually what I find is that when a company has strange visitors poking around and asking questions, it can be unsettling and distracting for your people. I work largely remotely and not travelling lowers the overall costs for my clients. Zoom or MS Teams calls work perfectly well in almost all circumstances, although where necessary, or requested, I'll travel to you.

  • Who will I be working with?

    Just me. Theo. Always.

  • What do I need to prepare for the call?

Once you’re ready, I’ll send you a document which lists the information I need. If you don’t have the information, nor you don’t wish to share it, that’s absolutely fine - I can talk it through with you and you can get an idea of what to expect and how long it may take. The more information you share with me at the start the more accurate my assessment will be and the better the results in the long-term.

  • Why don't you charge for the initial assessment?

I know that budget is always a challenge to businesses and you need to know you can trust those that you bring in to help you. Giving you something to help you, seems like a no-brainer and hopefully what you see will give you the confidence to take the next step with me. However, there is no commitment. The service I provide will enable you to take those valuable next steps towards growth, and the cost of inaction will far out way any costs for my services over the long term.

  • Would you consider longer-term projects?

I’m happy to consider your needs over the long-term and look at how I may be able to support you. I can offer a retainer service providing advice and support depending upon what you need.

  • What do you charge for your services?

All businesses are different, but to keep things simple, I work on a fixed day rate of £500 or £90p/h + any expenses.

If you consider the cost of inaction, you’ll see it’s only a very small investment for big gains.

‘We just couldn’t see it’

‘We thought we were doing the right things but you’ve pinpointed growth opportunities and helped us to go after it’
